International Students
Are you an overseas student studying in Lancaster? You are probably facing many pressures - study at a high level, language challenges, a different culture, homesickness, rain, more rain ... We want to support you and make your time in the UK enjoyable and memorable.
You are very welcome to all our student events and activities - do have a look at what's available. This includes our host scheme - linking up with a member of the church for support or hospitality.
In addition, there are many activities and networks for international students across Lancaster, facilitated by a number of churches working together including St Thomas'. These include
- International Cafe - alternate Saturdays in the St Thomas' downstairs centre - pick up a leaflet in the foyer
- Across Cultures - for wives of international students. Babies and children welcome. Monday lunchtime in the St Thomas' downstairs centre. Friendship, crafts and other activities, lunch and informal Bible study.
- Facebook group, email news - to keep up to date.
- Saturday afternoon outings (mostly summer term) - canal walks, strawberry picking, visits to farms or villages.
- Chinese Christian Fellowship - meets on campus
- Informal Bible study groups for international students
Many of these activities are co-ordinated by Andy and Elspeth Wood, who are staff members with Friends International in Lancaster.
Or to talk to someone at St Thomas' about what's available in Lancaster, ask for Sally Pidd, Nick Robinson or Andy Plowman.
