Host Families

Moving away from home for the first time can be a daunting experience, especially with the prospect of cooking for yourself and surviving without the parents!  Well if that is you, look no further, because at St Thomas' we want to help you feel at home as quickly as possible. This scheme is a chance to meet families who will welcome you into St Thomas' church and to Lancaster!

The general idea is that students will be put together in twos or threes to go round to a family or couple's home for some lunch, maybe an evening meal or even spend the day together doing an activity!  Usually this will happen about twice a term, but this will be worked out on an indiviudal basis with the host family and the student.

If you'd like to be put in touch with a host, do get in contact with Phil (student worker) on 07816 429605 or

One student said this of the Scheme:

"The student hospitality scheme involved being linked with a family in church. We would have lunch together several times through the year, chat about how things were going, God, and life in general, (and walk the dog!). It was really good to get to know a family in the church well, especially at the beginning, and to spend a little time away from other students and uni life" - Lucy.
